We Just Launched This Plumping Serum

When you think of plump skin, what comes to mind? If it’s bouncy, youthful, and hydrated, then we’re on the same page. In our ongoing quest to help you achieve your best skin, we started to think about how skin looks when it’s totally balanced and healthy. Enter our newest skincare creation, the Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum!

If you’re a fan of Glow Recipe already, then you know that we stand by hydration. In addition to combining actives with antioxidant-rich fruits, all of our products have hydrating properties, too. Good news for you, our new Plum Plump serum takes hydration to the next level. We combined three different types of plums with five different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to fill your skin, layer by layer, with hydration. With vegan collagen and vegan silk protein in the mix, this serum is a new, modern approach to quenching skin. All of these stellar ingredients mean your skin not only feels healthy and hydrated, but it looks incredibly plump and smooth, like a perfect piece of ripe summer fruit!

What’s Inside

To begin, let us wax poetic about the juicy plum. Not only is this summer stone fruit super hydrating, but plums can actually help to synthesize your skin’s natural hyaluronic acid production – how cool is that?! In this formula, we combined three different types of plums. First we have Kakadu plums, which are native to Australia and are some of the most potent natural sources of vitamin C, even more so than oranges. Next up we have the Illawarra plum, which have tons of anthocyanins, a potent antioxidant. Anthocyanins give fruit like blueberries and plums their deep bluish color. They’re also incredible antioxidants that protect your skin from free radical damage and help to prevent signs of aging. To round us out, we have the Burdekin plum. In addition to vitamin C in antioxidants, this fruit also is rich in skin-balancing minerals like magnesium, calcium, zinc and potassium.

Our next hero ingredient is none other than the famous hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant ingredient, which means it binds with moisture molecules in your skin to help it retain moisture. In addition to hydrating your skin, humectants like hyaluronic acid also have a plumping ability. This is why we combined four different kinds and five different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to plump and fill your skin with hydration, layer by layer.

Think about hyaluronic acid as working like a 3D sponge to lock in moisture. Smaller sizes of this humectant molecule are able to penetrate transdermally and are great at retaining moisture deep within your skin. This also helps your skin repair itself and helps it retain its “bounce.” Then, medium-weight hyaluronic acid molecules hydrate closer to the surface of your skin. The largest size molecules work at the surface level to fill your skin with hydration and help to smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We also tapped into plant-derived hyaluronic acid, specifically from tremella mushrooms, which creates a moisture layer to prevent moisture loss. All around, this powerful ingredient has incredible benefits for your skin.

Now, we can’t talk about hydration without talking about your skin barrier. We’re all about supporting a healthy moisture barrier because when it’s damaged, our skin loses water and is prone to irritation, acne, and more. In order to lock in all of that hydrating goodness, we put vegan collagen and vegan silk protein in this formula. Our vegan collagen is made from the acacia plant, and it’s shown to be just as effective as animal collagen in clinical claims – a win win! The vegan silk protein we use is a hydrogel peptide created by a biofermentation process. It comes from plant sugar and is just as effective as the silk you’ll find made by little silkworms. Together, these ingredients help lock in all of the good stuff while protecting your skin from potential irritants.

How To Use It

Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum plays well with all kinds of skin, because everyone can benefit from some extra hydration. You can use this as your serum step both morning and night, depending on how your skin is feeling that day. Just dispense 1-2 pumps into the palm of your hand and gently pat it into damp skin. Try mixing it up with other serums to create your own skincare cocktail. For example, you can mix a few drops of Plum Plump with a drop of Pineapple-C Bright Serum for a dual hydrating and brightening effect.

One tip not to forget: it’s best to apply hydrating serums to damp skin. When skin is damp, it absorbs product more effectively. Plus, when there’s moisture already on your skin, humectants can then draw it in to plump and hydrate skin. We like to recommend applying serums after your eye cream and toner steps, so if your skin doesn’t feel damp at that point, it’s a great time to incorporate a mist in your routine! We love using our Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist for this because it’s really easy to layer it to create a completely customized level of hydration.

If long-lasting hydration is your goal, also make sure you’re locking everything in with a daily moisturizer. If your skin tends to produce more oil, infusing it with lightweight hydration can actually help to control oil production, so top off your Plum Plump serum with an oil-free formula like the Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer. In the instance your skin operates on the other end of the spectrum and loses water throughout the day, we love to layer Pink Juice and Banana Souffle for some high-impact moisturizing.

We’re so excited to finally be able to share with you this game-changing formulation with one of our most favorite ingredients. And, in case you missed it, plum is another new fruit to join the Glow Recipe lineup! We can’t wait for you to try the new Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum because we know you’re just going to love it.
