Korean Sunscreen Is Royal Wedding Approved

Meghan Markle’s naturally pretty, yet radiant makeup for the Royal Wedding on May 19 is yielding a butterfly effect on the beauty industry. For the last few years, heavily contoured, camouflaged skin was the go-to look, but the new Duchess of Sussex surprised many when she called on makeup artist Daniel Martin to create a sheerer, light makeup moment which showed off her beautiful freckles for her nuptials to Prince Harry.

The official beauty breakdowns for Meghan’s look are trickling in and Glamour got the full scoop from Daniel himself. The most surprising tidbit (well, not for us), was him revealing that his secret to a natural, breathable look is Korean sunscreen. He notes that it also works as a “foundation gripper” to ensure that her foundation would stay in place for the day, making it function as a sort of primer in addition to protection from that (rare) sunny day the wedding brought.

While everyone else was in awe over this nugget of bridal beauty advice, we were nodding in approval. You see, we’ve known for quite some time of the superiority of Korean SPF and how very advanced it is in comparison to the greasy, heavy stuff that’s the norm in America.

We protect our skin with Korean sunscreen daily because in addition to its gripping capabilities, it’s got a laundry list of other benefits. First, it’s advanced from an innovation perspective and second, the textures are light, yet elegant. And, of course, it protects your delicate skin from the sun really well.

If you loved Meghan’s look as much as the rest of the world (how could you not), we’ve got just the thing for you. Read on to learn more about some of our fave sun saviors. You’ll never look at sunscreen the same way again.

Hey Raquel! While all of our products, including sunscreens, are harsh-chemical free and tested to be safe on all skin types, we'd recommend cross checking the ingredients list with your pediatrician to allay any concerns. Fingers crossed for your lottery win! :):)

Loved Meghan’s look for her wedding. And love that sunscreen was part of that. What I would love even more is if there was a blog post from Glow Recipe testing all these sunscreens on dark skin and reporting back on the ‘whitecast’ effect. I can’t risk investing time and money into ordering sunscreens online since I can’t test them out on my dark skin in advance. Which really is a shame since I know I’m missing out... Thanks!

We totally agree, Jen! Check out the Insta story just posted to our Instagram, @GlowRecipe . We tested all of our sunscreens for whitecast on darker skin :) Stay tuned for more on this topic!
