Announcing Our Mentoring Programs

It’s no secret that the beauty industry has a lot of work to do to diversify its workforce, ourselves included. Last week we announced that we would be launching a mentorship program to help create more opportunities for small Black-owned businesses and for Black students looking to learn more about what it’s like to work for a beauty brand.

Here’s how it works:

Our Community Mentoring Initiative is our commitment to create a comprehensive mentoring program to support and partner with 3 Black-owned businesses in the beauty and wellness space.

We will be supporting these businesses for a period of three months through direct access to our co-founders Sarah and Christine, as well as support from our in-house marketing, creative, business development & content teams to help with business strategies and provide resources.

To be considered for the program, businesses must be Black-owned and founded, based in the US, and have 4 full-time employees or less.

The business will be provided with bi-weekly virtual mentorship meetings with our co-founders and/or key team members to provide support in the following topics:

  • Marketing/E-Commerce
  • Content/Social Media
  • Finance
  • Sales
  • PR
  • Creative
  • CRM

Below please find key dates for this program*:

12/3 – 1/11 – Applications open

Our Student Mentoring Initiative is our commitment to create a program to help support Black students who are looking to have a career in beauty. Five US college students will be assigned a mentor from the Glow Recipe team in a field they are interested in for a period of 3 months: marketing, PR, creative, social media, or digital. Students will meet with their selected team member virtually through one-hour video calls once every two weeks (or more as needed), and will also have access to an hour-long virtual group session with our co-founders Sarah and Christine.

Students chosen for the Student Mentorship initiative will also have an opportunity to apply for internships at the company.

Below please find key dates for this program*:

6/9-6/19 – Applications open
6/20 – Finalists selected
Week of 6/22 – Interviews

For both of our programs, we will announce dates for the next session after the completion of the first program.  For future terms of both the Community and Student Mentoring programs, we will expand this initiative to include POC applicants as well. It is our goal to encourage diversity and support both Black and POC communities.
