There are two types of people in this world — those who use primer and those who don’t. I belong to the latter. As much as I want my makeup to last all day, the reality is that for people with sensitive skin (like me) primers are very hit or miss. Usually, they end up clogging my pores and leaving my skin irritated. I thought I was doomed to a makeup-melting life, but through the grace of the primer gods, I finally stumbled across one that works for me. It hydrates, primes, and leaves my skin glowing — all without clogging my pores.
What is this magical skin transformer? It’s the Blithe InBetween Hydro Priming Cream and here’s everything you need to know about it.
What is it?
The Blithe InBetween Hydro Priming Cream is a makeup and skincare hybrid. It was appropriately named InBetween as it’s formulated to prep and protect skin. It does this by acting as the barrier in-between skin and makeup products. This helps to shield it from potentially irritating ingredients in makeup. It looks and feels like a watery gel cream but it also softens your skin and grips your makeup for a foundation-ready canvas that doesn’t clog pores.
It can be used whether you’re planning for a full-glam look or you just want a hydrated, natural glow on those no makeup days. It’s infused with Bifida Ferment Extract, a natural probiotic that improves barrier function [i.e. your skin’s natural ability to hold in moisture], shields against environmental pollutants, and adds extra hydration.
It also contains Ceramides, skin nourishing lipids that help plump and condition the skin’s surface and Squalane, a glow-booster that fortifies for radiant skin. It’ll help make your makeup look good but your skin look even better.
How To Use
After cleansing (with the Blueberry Bounce Cleanser, so my skin starts off clear and bright), toning, and applying the Makeup Prep Essence, I warm a dime-sized amount of cream between my hands and pat it in. I love the fact that it’s so easy to use and cuts down on the number of products I have to purchase.
My favorite thing about the InBetween Hydro Priming Cream is that you can use it to customize your makeup look. Apply it on bare skin to add a subtle, fresh-from-the-shower sheen. Or, add face makeup on top and it will both hold it in place and make it look more natural. And, if you want to maximize your glow, strategically place a dab on your cheekbones and browbones post-foundation to create a highlighter effect sans highlighter.
Now that I’ve tried it, I’m not sure how I ever did my makeup without it. It instantly helps to smooth and blur my pores while giving my skin a boost of glowing hydration, plus, it makes my makeup last longer, which I definitely need. I don’t typically use setting powders because they make my dry skin look cakey, meaning this is a great option because I can amp up the longevity of my foundation, yet still, have it look like my skin…only better. Let’s see your regular primer do that.

Question: do you put sunscreen on before or after this product?
Hi! Good question -- you should always apply SPF after moisturizing! It shouldn't affect the priming effect of the moisturizer :)
I absolutely cannot stand the tackiness primers leave my skin with! I believe good skincare allows me to bypass a primer, but InBetween looks like my kind of product! I need makeup that benefits my skin. I recently started using Dear Hydration by Banila Co. It felt greasy at first on my combination skin, but after using a smaller amount, love it under my makeup. It is another skincare product designed to give you a smooth, hydrated canvas. I will have to try InBetween after my Dear Hydration runs out!
HI Julie! We completely agree about tackiness. No thanks! If you end trying the InBetween Hydro Priming Cream -- let us know how it goes! :) <3
