Meet the New Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask

What’s better than avocado toast? The brand new Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask. We’re so excited to introduce the newest member of the glow family, and tap into the magical skincare powers of avocado and our newest acid obsession, PHA. Just like our innovative watermelon variety, this new addition elevates sleeping masks to an entirely new level.

How you ask? Overnight, it avocuddles skin in a blanket of hydration to sooth and revitalize stressed out, tired skin. Formulated with nourishing avocado, visibly firming honey, and gently exfoliating PHAs for skin recovery, it’s dry skin’s dream, helping to eliminate dry flakes and dull texture to give you a healthy, hydrated glow.

WHY AVOCADO?

We created our Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask to give people access to post-facial results (hydrating and smoothing) with the least amount of effort possible. While it’s amazing for all skin types, the lightweight gel texture is particularly effective for those with oily and combination to normal skin types. We heard from fans with more dry skin that they wished there was a product that would leave their skin just as smooth and bouncy, but would be even more heavy-duty—something that could give extra moisture and something with a more rich, luxurious texture. So we thought about what ingredient we could harness that would be powerful, moisturizing, and antioxidant-rich. After over a year of research, the choice was clear: Avocado.

We only want to put out the most innovative, efficacious formulas possible, so we wanted to make sure that we packed our mask with as much avocado as possible. Our formula contains 74% avocado and four different forms of the superfruit—avocado fruit, avocado extract, avocado oil, and avocado butter. Combined, these give the natural formula a luxuriously whipped texture.

Avocado is a major skin saver as it works to deeply nourish the skin thanks to its high oleic and linoleic acids. These “dry oils” provide rich moisture without weighing the skin down.

WHAT ELSE IS IN THE MASK?

Manuka Honey

The second major ingredient is Manuka Honey. This honey is completely different from your usual store bought varieties. It’s the only honey to have Methylglyoxal (MGO), which has higher levels of antibacterial properties than any other type. Fatigue and stress have a major impact on your skin, making it appear dry, dull and all around unhappy. MGOs contain high levels of antioxidants which increases your body and skin’s ability to help heal itself, helping skin appear fresh and perky.

It also helps defend and repair your skin from damaging environmental stressors. The high antioxidant count also helps to prevent premature aging and visibly increase your skin’s elasticity for firmer, plumper skin.

PHAs

PHAs are a gamechanger in the skincare world and they’re everything in Korea right now. What sets it apart from other acids is its larger molecular structure, which exfoliates in a super gentle, non-irritating way. This makes it perfect for all skin types, especially those with sensitive skin. It helps slough away dead skin cells to reveal your glowiest skin ever.

Kaolin

To help balance out the richness of the formula, we added a pinch of Kaolin to ensure that our mask isn’t heavy and pore-clogging like some overnight masks geared toward dry skin can sometimes be.

THE SCENT

Skincare should be as fun as possible—from the innovation elements down to the application and scent. And, no, our mask doesn’t smell like guacamole. We created a calming, fresh scent using natural ingredients that also have major skin benefits. We combined Lavender Water, known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to provide relief to dry skin, Rosemary Water, which helps to visibly minimize wrinkles and refine the pores, and Apple Fruit Water and Oil, which works to help soothe, moisturize, and brighten the skin.

USING IT IS *REALLY* EASY

After applying your nightly skincare routine, whip the mask with the provided spatula (it’s a natural formula so separation may occur), and pat a dime-size amount of the Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask into skin. Because of its lavish texture, it does take a bit longer to absorb than the gel texture of our Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask does, but don’t worry—it’s also pillow proof, so it won’t mess up your sheets. After snoozing, wake up and wash off the mask (here’s where the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser comes in) to reveal incredibly glowy, soothed skin.

You can also use it as a wash off mask to revitalize irritated skin in a flash (well, technically 10 minutes). Just whip up the formula and spread a thick layer a cleansed face from forehead to chin. Rinse with lukewarm water after 10 minutes.

PS—We recommend using this mask 2-3 times a week to keep your skin happy and healthy. If you’re craving more glow, you can work your way up to using it more (just remember that your skin has to get used to acids, even super-gentle ones).

does skin need to get used to *new* acids, too? my super dry skin didn't seem to deal with any learning curve with the watermelon mask, but this one stung a little the whole time. should i keep trying to get used to it, or stick with the watermelon? i used to use Herbivore's 5% fruit acid Prism, and it seemed benign (to the point i didn't notice a change in my skin after even a long time). At another time, i tried their Blue Tansy AHA/BHA resurfacing mask, which had the slightest sting, but different from this Avocado mask: it was like a numbing sting, while the Avocado feels almost itchy (no rash or anything, I've never had an allergy to anything that i know of). Glow's Watermelon mask is just super hydrating for me, with never an issue at all. Is that my skin saying, "choose watermelon!" or should i keep giving Avocado a chance?

Does this mask also have alcohol in it like the Watermelon mask?

Thanks for asking! Avocado Melt is free of denatured alcohols. Cetearyl is a fatty alcohol that acts a hydrating agent. Email us for more information - love@glowrecipe.com
